I hope you and your family continue to keep safe and well in these extraordinarily difficult times. As you know the current school closure has now been extended to April 19th and I will do my best to support your teen’s learning at home. Some areas of the curriculum are more easily adapted to distance learning than others but we know that everyone is doing their best. I really appreciate the time and effort being given by parents to school work and making it an important part of your teen’s routine. I will contact you by email to ascertain whether the amount and pacing of work is suitable for you and your teen and what concerns you have, if any, in relation to supporting your teen’s learning and also what concerns your teen may have, if any. I would welcome your feedback as it enables me to do a better job going forward.
In the meantime, it is important that schoolwork does not add any stress or conflict to your day. Your teen is encouraged to choose from a menu of activities, take plenty of breaks, do lots of talking, do plenty of exercise, and engage in lots of age-appropriate household jobs to help out the family. Nurturing positive relationships and quality family time together is so important.
With that in mind, I’d like my students to log onto a website which has a variety of activities listed below. There is a section for those students thinking of embarking on the LCA course later in the year. The website is: http://www.progressreading360.com/index.php
To access the site, please email my personal email address at firstname.lastname@example.org and I will send on a temporary username and password. As I said above, I will then email to check on any access issues initially and then on for progress updates etc.
Lastly, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to our parents who are working tirelessly on the front line in so many different jobs, to help the people in our community and in our country at the present time…I salute you and may God protect you.
